Found in the Canepa Collection is this 1971 AMC Javelin Trans-Am champion. It's said to be the only car built by Roger Penske Racing in 1971, and the last car driven by Mark Donahue before he retired from Trans-Am.
According to the seller's description, this 1971 car was actually a 1970 racer that was re-bodied as a '71. After a 2nd-place 1970 season, Penske must have thought they already had a good thing in the chassis.
For the 1971 season, the Javelin got wider fenders and a new spoiler in order to help dominate the track.
Fully-restored to its 1971 championship specs, a very clean restoration makes this million-dollar museum piece. Well, actually they're only asking $950,000.
