Toyota continues to tease with more details of its joint sports car with Subaru, announcing the latest FT-86 concept will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
Toyota hasn’t divulged any powertrain details on the new concept, but it’s unlikely they’ll differ significantly from the original show car. If that’s the case, the engine will likely be a Subaru-sourced, 2.0-liter turbocharged boxer-four, similar to that used in the Impreza line. The previous FT-86 mated that engine with a six-speed manual transmission, which then sent power to the rear wheels.
For now, all we can surmise is the FT-86 II concept will be our best look yet at Toyota’s forthcoming production model. Expect more details to emerge closer to the Geneva Motor Show, where, interestingly enough, Subaru plans on unveiling its version of this co-developed coupe at the same venue.
