BMW Announces Performance Accessories for North American X6 Models

Starting from late October, BMW will begin offering to North American buyers a suite of parts from its 'Performance Accessories' division for the X6 crossover. The range includes a power kit, styling package, unique alloys and a flat-bottomed steering wheel.

The power kit will be available for xDrive35i and xDrive50i models built between 2008 and 2010. New engine software is claimed to increase engine output and responsiveness without increasing fuel consumption or exhaust emissions.

On the xDrive35i, output is bumped up from 300-hp to 320-hp, and on the on the xDrive50i, from 400-hp to 440 hp. Torque is likewise improved, from 300 to 332 lb. ft. (407 to 450 Nm) on the xDrive 35i, and from 450 to 480 lb. ft. (610 to 651 Nm) on the xDrive50i.

    Both models are 0.2 seconds faster to 60 mph (96 km/h); 6.3 seconds for the six-cylinder xDrive35i and 5.0 seconds for the V8 xDrive50i. Overtaking acceleration (50 to 75 mph / 80 km/h to 120 km/h) has also been improved by half a second.

BMW is has also prepared a performance aero kit consisting of redesigned front and rear bumpers, side skirts, rear bumper insert and the additional option of rear fins and a rear deck spoiler (which sits beneath the rear windshield).

Unique 21 inch alloys will also be offered: 10" x 21" wheels clad in 285/35/R21 rubber at the front and 11.5" x 21" wearing 325/30/R21s at the rear.

A racing-style, flat-bottomed multifunction steering wheel covered in hand-stitched Alcantara will also be available.

The performance aero kit and 21-inch alloys are available on all models except the X6 M and ActiveHybrid X6, whilst the multifunction steering wheel is unavailable on the X6 M and X6s equipped with the Lane Departure Warning system.

A high performance exhaust for the V8 and inline-six X6 models is also in development and is expected to be available this winter.

The Met-R BMW X6 Interceptor is Alive

A little while back we showed you some renderings of Met-R's BMW X6-based Interceptor. Now the kit is alive and kicking, having braved the transition from computer screen to garage. A Mr. Gomelchuk has been kind enough to throw us a bone and drop some live images, showing the Interceptor wearing a more tii-themed paint scheme.

Personally, I'd love to see it in black and wearing those rims from the original concept. You know, make it a hard-riding, street-combing monster. If you're in Russia (or intend on shipping the kit from Russia), the kit will run you 297,000 Rubles. That's just around $9,900 US. Just another kit, or something that truly stands out? Voice and vent in the comments below.

Russian Tuner Proposes BMW X6 Coupe Conversion

If you liked Merdad's idea of a two-door Porsche Cayenne SUV, then you'll be happy to know that another tuning firm has came up with a similar conversion for the BMW X6 crossover. This time, the culprit is a Russian company called ArmorTech that specializes on custom and armored vehicles.

Starting with the standard X6, Ameritech chops off the rear doors and moves the B-Column further back to fit larger front doors (+250mm or 9.8-in.). The conversion also includes a new rear window and bespoke front seats that tilt and slide forward to allow for convenient access to the rear seats.

Buyers can further upgrade (?) the X6's looks with some optional chunky aero parts and aftermarket alloy wheels. The Russian company also offers numerous bits and pieces for the interior as well as a performance package that upgrades the engine, the suspension and the braking system.

Those of you interested will have to contact the company directly for details on pricing and availability.

Russian Tuner 'Status Design' Does the BMW X6 SAV

In case the BMW X6 just doesn't make the cut for you, Status Design, a Moscow-based tuning shop, has launched a new kit package for the Bavarian crossover that bundles aero mods with performance upgrades.

The exterior aero package includes a body kit with side skirts, carbon fiber roof spoiler, front bumper with LED daytime running lights, carbon trim on the window surrounds, mirror covers and dual-kidney grille, and a new rear bumper that makes room for a pair of dual tail pipes and a carbon fiber diffuser. A set of 22-inch alloy wheels from Hartge complete the crossover's looks.

The Russian tuner also gives the X6's 3.0-liter straight-six turbo more grunt by modifying the vehicle's ECU and adding a sport exhaust system and sport air filter. These upgrades help lift output by 74HP for a total of 380-horsepower.

Status Design did not release pricing on the BMW X6 package, but if you're interested, you can visit their site by clicking the link below.
