Lamborghini Launches Gallardo LP570-4 Blancpain Limited Edition

Lamborghini has teamed up with Swiss luxury watchmaker Blancpain to create a limited edition version of its Gallardo supercar that pays homage to the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo racing cars. As you may have guessed, Blancpain is the title sponsor of the one-make racing series.

Finished in a black paintwork, the road-legal Gallardo LP 570-4 Blancpain Edition adopts the racing model's Countach-sized rear-wing and unique engine cover which is said to offer improved ventilation.

The car also gets Skorpius alloy wheels with yellow-painted brake calipers and discs made from carbon-ceramic composite, while several external components, such as the diffuser and mirror casings are made from carbon-fiber.

The racing atmosphere continues in the interior which is finished in black Alcantara with yellow accents and visible carbon-fiber.

As with the Super Trofeo race car, propulsion for the all-wheel drive model comes from the 5.2-liter V10 with 570-horsepower found in the series production Gallardo Superleggera.

Lamborghini says the Blancpain Edition tips the scales (dry) at 1340 kilograms (2954 lb) making it "the lightest road-going model in Lamborghini's range." Not to nitpick, but that's not entirely true as the Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera has the same exact weight. So to be precise, it shares the title with the Superleggera.

Power-to-weight ratio of the vehicle stands at 2.35 kilograms (5.18 lb) per hp with the Blancpain completing the standard zero to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint in 3.4 seconds and reaches the 200 km/h (124 mph) mark only 6.8 seconds later (10.2''). Top speed exceeds 320 km/h (199 mph).

There is no word on pricing or availability of the Gallardo LP 570-4 Blancpain Edition as of this time.

Lamborghini Gallardo Balboni Edition: There's a Tune for That Too

Even the Lamborghini Gallardo Valentino Balboni Edition special can't escape from the hands of tuners. Anderson Germany -no need to tell you where they're based, a tuning shop that specializes on high-end sports cars and saloons, has introduced a selected package of goodies for the rear-wheel drive Lambo that's named after the Italian firm's most famous test driver.

The tuning company starts from the V10 engine bringing output from 550HP to 590HP. Anderson Germany did not say how it achieves the power boost. A new exhaust system with remote-controlled butterfly valves that allow the sound levels to be adjusted and new 20-inch alloy wheels shod in performance tires size 235/30 R20 at the front and 305/25 R20 at the back, round off the performance and exterior upgrades.

Most work has gone inside where the German tuner has re-trimmed the seats, door panels and steering wheel with new leather and added unique floor mats. The company said it can further personalize the interior as well as the exterior upon customer request.

SPY VIDEO: Lamborghini Testing Spider Version of RWD Gallardo LP550-2 Valentino Balboni

Looks like Lamborghini is working on the development of a topless version of its limited-run Gallardo LP550-2 Valentino Balboni special, which was named after the Italian company's most renowned test driver. The test mule was spied testing in and around the famous Nürburgring race track.

As with the coupe model, the Gallardo Spyder LP550-2 Valentino Balboni will ditch the standard Gallardo's four-wheel drive system for a lighter rear-wheel drive configuration, with power coming from a 5.2-liter V10 engine pushing out 550HP and 398 lb-ft of torque at 6500 rpm, hooked up to either a manual gearbox or an e-gear automated transmission with column-mounted shift paddles.

It will also feature a 45-percent limited-slip differential, upgraded chassis with new suspension settings, a recalibrated ESP, and new alloy wheels and tires.

Given that the car's mechanical hardware is identical to the coupe model, we could see the Gallardo Spyder LP550-2 Valentino Balboni making its debut as early as this fall at the Paris Motor Show.

Lamborghini Celebrates Production of 10,000th Gallardo

The 10,000th Gallardo supercar has rolled off the production line at the company's Sant'Agata Bolognese plant in Italy, making it by far the most commercial successful Lamborghini model of all time. The record Gallardo model with the number 10,000 is finished in yellow "Midas" and destined for a client in China.

"Production of car number 10,000 is a very important milestone for Lamborghini," said Lamborghini boss, Stephan Winkelmann. "The Lamborghini brand is extreme, uncompromising and Italian, and the Lamborghini Gallardo has played an exemplary role in defining and delivering our brand reputation into our worldwide markets. Today Lamborghini is represented in 45 countries by over 120 dealers, with the strength and presence of the Gallardo product playing a significant role in the growth and recognition of our brand."

The V10-powered Gallardo with its permanent four-wheel drive was launched in 2003, with Lamborghini gradually extending the model range with the Spyder and Superleggera models as well as special editions such as the Gallardo SE and Nera.

In 2007, the Italian company presented a revised version called the Gallardo LP 560-4 with increased power and updated styling. The coupe was followed in 2008 by the Spyder model, while in 2009, Lamborghini presented the limited edition two-wheel drive LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni.

At this year's Geneva Salon, the Italians presented the Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera lightweight special boasting a top speed of 325 km/h [202 mph].

New Ford Fiesta Takes on a Lamborghini Gallardo, Lives to Tell the Tale [Video]

Ford's looking to make a big statement with its upcoming Fiesta, and it seems like the new-age consumer-driven marketing has been a success. Now, the gurus behind the campaign have come up with a new one.

Recently, they put out a challenge to the public: come up with different tests to help assess the Fiesta and see how it stacks up against some major players. This one pits the upcoming Fiesta hatch against a Lambo in some real-world (and Fiesta-centric) tests.

It's a tad cheesy, but you should still be able to enjoy the show. Video after the break.

Lamborghini Gallardo-Based / Powered Ford Mustang is up for Sale!

Remember the custom made Ford Mustang with the Lamborghini Gallardo heart and mechanicals from the 2007 SEMA show? Well, this bizarre mishmash that has been baptized 'The Tractorri' (feel free to call it the Mustardo) has been listed for sale for an undisclosed price on Jameslist.

The Tractorri was built by one John Haugh from Cleveland, Ohio, who spent a whole lot of time and cash to marry the body of a 2007 Ford Mustang coupe to the mechanicals - including the 520HP 5.0-liter V10 engine that's mounted behind the front seats, E-gear sequential automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system- of a Gallardo.

The fabricator even went as far as to create a custom interior that mimics the design of the exotic Lamborghini supercar!

If you're interested for a price quote, check out the site here.

    Seller's Description:

The crown jewel of our private collection: The Tractorri. The short version? This is a body-in-white '07 Mustang shell with the mechanicals from a Lamborghini Gallardo underneath. From the ABS to the AWD to the E-gear transmission everything works.

The long version adds two more Mustangs for parts, thousands of hours of labor and enough one-off parts to make most show cars blush. Oh, and our president drives it around--he put over 1500 miles on it this summer alone! Built and maintained by our own Rick Roush this is a werewolf in wolf's clothing! Check out the pictures for now and we'll have a full description of the build and show history up shortly!
